In an effort to explore new food options for new Coffeehouse this fall, the summer team went on an mission to Marini’s Empanada House on Westheimer to taste test this delectable option. According the Marini’s website, Marcelo and Pelusa Marini opened their first restaurant named: “Marini’s Empanada House”, it was located in between Westheimer and Montrose on 1517 Westheimer. For two decades, the Marini Family grew in business, friends, and fame and were well recognized for their empanadas as being “the best empanadas in the world.” An unfortunate fire displaced their business in 1985. The family business re-opened with the help of their son Sergio Marini and his wife Gabriela.
On Friday the 10th, four hungry summer KOCs descended upon the establishment ready to devour some of those so called “best empanadas in the world” . The selection was impressive and after much deliberation, we each settled on some empanadas that we wanted to try out.
The staff was quite friendly and we quickly had our empanadas in front of us.“THIS is an empanada” said D-wimmz, sensing confusion among the group.
After a round of empanadas, our attention quickly turned to the desert empanadas. These proved to be an astounding finale to our already epic meal. A few hours and many empanadas later, the verdict was clear. Yes to empanadas for new coffeehouse.
