Coffeehouse Managers

Like all KOCs, our managers are Rice students by day and coffee aficionados by night. Serving terms of one calendar year at a time, our managers are dedicated to making Chaus a better place by partnering with local businesses and connecting to the student population.

Mandy Weaver

Mandy Weaver

General Manager; akw6@rice.edu

Mandy (Martel ’18) is the General Manager of Coffeehouse. While she does spend an inordinate amount of time in Chaus drinking tea and making sure the ship is still afloat, she does some other things too! She’s an Ecology and Evolutionary Biology major and Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities minor. A mouthful to say for sure… But if you need to find her, she’s probably somewhere on campus staring at the live oak trees or in the HUMA building reading something about human rights, public health, or education. But let’s be real, she’s probably at Coffeehouse…
David Ratnoff

David Ratnoff

Training Manager; dor2@rice.edu

David (Martel ’18) started drinking coffee when he was seven and tinkered with pour-overs at home throughout high school. In Spring 2016 he joined the Coffeehouse family, eager to learn about espresso and milk and share his passion with the Rice community. Now as the training manager, David works closely with KOCs new and old to bolster tamping, frothing, and pouring techniques. Beyond the sliding doors of coffeehouse, David serves as the President of Baker Institute Student Forum and conducts political science and history research. If you’re interested in cortados, voting rights, or fine cheeses, come say hi!

Zoe Levert

Zoe Levert

Food & Ordering Manager; zml1@rice.edu

A Psychology Major, a Business Minor, a lover of coffee and animals, and a Jonesian. Zoe Levert (’19) can be called many things, but she is most proud to call herself Coffeehouse’s Food Manager. As Food Manager, Zoe enjoys building and maintaining relationships with with our lovely local vendors as well as sampling food from around Houston to ensure that Coffeehouse sells only the best. She loves to hear input about what food Coffeehouse should sell so please feel free to reach out to her with suggestions! When she’s not at Coffeehouse, Zoe enjoys reading, binge watching Friends, and snuggling with her cat, Olivia.

Habeen Chang

Habeen Chang

Inventory Manager; ahc8@rice.edu

Habeen is the current Inventory Manager for Rice Coffeehouse, which means that he takes care of all the stock and comes up with weird drinks of the month with weirder names. As a student, Habeen is in his second year at Rice studying pure (i.e. not applied) mathematics. Habeen lives at Will Rice College and is a member of various extracurricular groups on campus, including the Campanile Orchestra and sketch comedy group Kinda Sketchy.

Andrew Gatherer

Andrew Gatherer

Health & Maintenace Manager; aog1@rice.edu

Andrew’s two favorite things in life are rockets and coffee. He’s a senior Mechanical Engineering at Brown college, and his favorite cup of coffee is iced and strong. In his free time he enjoys running and watching an unreasonable amount of British murder mysteries. At coffeehouse, his main responsibilities include ensuring that all of the devices and furniture in the store are in working order and that employees are aware of and following the City of Houston Health Code. If you have a concern with employee health code violations or notice something broken, please do not hesitate to contact him at aog1@rice.edu. Thanks!

Eleanor Hill

Eleanor Hill

Finance Manager; eah8@rice.edu

Eleanor is a senior here at Rice double majoring in Statistics and Mathematical Economic Analysis. At Coffeehouse, she is the Finance Manager. This entails her keeping track of the money, making sure our point-of-sale equipment is working, and helping other departments create systems to buy Coffeehouse goods.

Clair Hopper

Clair Hopper

Publicity & Marketing Manager; ceh7@rice.edu

Clair (Martel ’19) is studying history and museum studies. She has always had a soft spot for art and graphic design, and transfers that passion to Coffeehouse’s advertisements and merchandise. When she’s not making drinks or pictures for Coffeehouse, you can catch her singing with Rice Nocturnal, researching the fall of the Berlin Wall, or dogspotting around Houston. Her favorite drink is an amaretto cappuccino–it tastes like a hug!

Mikaela Juszwik

Mikaela Juszwik

Personnel Manager; mmj7@rice.edu

Mikaela’s listed job is to be the miniature HR department of Coffeehouse, but her real job is to lovingly keep each chair in the cafe space warm and cozy by curling up into a small ball and falling asleep in each of them at inopportune hours of the day. She once jumped off of a cliff because a stranger asked nicely, was present for the birth of the neo-revolutionary raffe vs giram debate, and is responsible for approximately 5% of the coldbrew consumption.

Emily Rychener

Emily Rychener

Catering Manager; Summer 2017 General Manager; egr3@rice.edu

Emily is a junior from Lovett college studying statistics. Hailing from Colorado Springs, CO she loves hiking in the mountains, reading, and baking treats to share with her family and friends. When she’s not buzzing around campus in a golf cart delivering catering orders, you can find her in Fondren library, running the outer loop, or on the intramural fields playing powder puff. Her favorite Coffeehouse drink is an iced mocha with a shot of hazelnut syrup (it tastes just like Nutella!).

Gabrielle Falcon

Gabrielle Falcon

Catering Manager; gaf5@rice.edu

Gabrielle (Gabby) is one of the two Catering Managers employed at Chaus. She is a Martel sophomore from Fort Worth, TX that is double majoring in Political Science and Policy Studies. When Gabby is not being Chief Justice at Martel, she enjoys naps, Netflix and a peach/mango smoothie from Coffeehouse. If you ever need someone to procrastinate on homework with, she’s your gal!
